Welcome to the A-Z Journal!
I am really excited to share with you my journey into the art of curation. During the past two years, I´ve been questioning myself asking; “Is it necessary to curate illustration?”, “What is the process you go through when curating an exhibition?” and “Why on Earth to start yet another art blog?” Being a curator, I have to embarrassingly admit that I’m an impatient reader myself – The one who skips ahead when the text gets boring and skims until it gets back to something interesting. Or even reads the end of the book first. In museums and galleries I haven’t got the patience to read long texts, either. Maybe it’s because I mostly read to learn instead of reading to relax.
Through journal writing, I continue my daily work and expand my scope in the promotion of illustration art and the development of its exhibition practices. I want to explore interesting new strategies in exhibition-making and ways of thinking about curating by opening up my thought process and sharing some of the significant themes and sources of the ideas. This spring, I have explored the subject of sensation. I’ve been devoting considerable time to exploring and planning about the Galleria Kuvitus’ exhibition development – delving especially into the subject of Liisa Kallio‘s solo show, Tunto (Sensation), which now has been organized as an online exhibition. In this personal blog, I will open up my thoughts behind the exhibition.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me via email or DM on instagram. I would love to hear your feedback!
– All best, Veera
